Challenges

Our Reason For Being
The Art & Culture Taskforce is a non-profit, non-partisan organization dedicated to promoting and elevating both the understanding and appreciation for artists, film and television throughout the United States. We are here to educate, inform and inspire those that can improve and enhance the Arts in America. The Arts supply critical building blocks to our Culture for future generations. We are a "wake-up call" to prompt recognition and contribution of Art and Culture for enhancement of both our society and our daily lives. We encourage you to make a difference!

American Independent Films, actually produced in the United States, are becoming a rare commodity within the film and entertainment industry. Independent Films are those films produced by individuals and corporations through their own monies, be it their own capital, loans, guarantees, pre-sales or use of other assets to make a film for theatrical, television or video release. This process is "independent" of the studio funding the public sees when major studios, like Paramount,     Columbia and Disney produce films.
Independent Producers face increasingly difficult challenges as they seek funding for their projects. Foreign countries support their film industries in many economic ways with some actually funding productions through their Film Boards. Additionally, most countries realize film making is big business, driving many facets of their economy and have taken steps to attract U.S. productions through both funding opportunities and incentives.

ACT is seeking alternatives that we believe will "level the playing field" in competing for productions that can be filmed in the U.S. To do this, we have supported incentives for keeping American productions in the U.S. and attracting foreign production within our borders. It is projected that within this decade, the U.S. will lose more than $180 Billion in production to foreign countries. By definition, this means lost opportunity in both jobs and businesses that could flourish here. Take a look at how ACT intends fuel American productions!

Throughout history when a civilization loses its culture, their country degrades and disappears into shambles. Culture can be as powerful a weapon as a bomb! Today, art, drama, music classes and even sports are being removed from curricula throughout school districts across America!
In our fast paced, mechanized society, children are not being brought closer together rather more often than not, they are alienated one from another. There is turmoil in many schools, even murder! And now, we're taking away the curricula that broaden understanding of life, inspire creativity and provides a basis of arts appreciation that is fundamental for any civilized society.
We as a society must move to save our cultural past and encourage development of The Arts in our educational systems at all age levels. See how you can make a difference!
Each state throughout the U.S. has their own standards for education, their own programs for developing the American culture with the imprint of their own heritage indigenous to their state. These states deal with the Arts and their Culture differently. Each has a focal point for their heritage and all work hard to find the best forum for communicating that heritage and encouraging their home-grown artists.
The Art & Culture Taskforce believes their work and support can help each state to leverage their heritage and promote the Arts to even higher profiles and appreciation. See what formative steps are being taken to come to each state with support from Artists and Celebrities around the United States!

   Chairman's Message

Fellow Art Patrons,
We draw many facets of our society from the creativity of both our forefathers and our contemporary artists - our architecture, our manufactured products and our entertainment. Art is critical to the development of culture. The capability to fuel the flame of creativity throughout our educational system has made us strong. The more creative a youngster's thought process, the better he or she is able to grasp scientific concepts and better handle complex problem solving.
However, we are today at a crossroads! Our educational system finds the arts taking the economic hit when budgets must be cut. The intent of the Art & Culture Taskforce is to foster individual and collective efforts to promote and expand arts education throughout our great country and continue the tradition of being the pace setter in the contemporary world. We can make a difference!
